Salty and Sweet - Teriyaki cinnamon chicken!

If you are like me, I don't stock up my fridge very often. I enjoy going to the store right before I cook to make sure I have the freshest ingredients. On occasion though, a tough time constraint added with being tired from running around non-stop really puts a damper on that store trip though. So yesterday I opened my fridge, and discovered a package of chicken, and my stomach started growling. Lately, I have been
on an unquenchable sweet food lust. So I decided to try something completely out of left field and make Teriyaki and cinnamon chicken!

Teriyaki sauce made JT style!!!!!

There are a few various ways to make terriyaki sauce, but I think my way is best ;)
Here are the ingredients you will use to create this easy, yet beautiful concoction.
  • 4oz apple cider vinegar
  • 2oz rice vinegar
  •  2oz red wine vinegar
  •  8oz soy sauce
  • 3 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp. of minced ginger
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1.5 tsp corn starch
Add all of the liquids in a pot, and turn on low/low-medium heat.
Add the garlic, corn starch and ginger in and stir.

After the sauce starts bubbling, turn the heat down to a slow simmer and let it thicken up and enjoy!!!!

I went ahead and sliced up some chicken into long strips, and pan fryed them in 2 tsp. of Olive oil.
When they started cooking, i sprinkled a hint of cinnamon on both sides. After cooking the chicken in the oil I gave them a bath in the thickened teriyaki sauce. After they soaked in the bath for five minutes, I plated these little tasty goodies and served them to my room mates.. They only lasted two minutes!!!! So, if you want to try them yourself.. make sure no one else is around!

Let those crazy food ideas shine my fellow foodies!!!!!
Eat on!
