Not only is the kid a "Culinary MacGuyver" (burrito shell + bag of shredded cheese + potato = lunch?), but his biggest strength was that he was still fairly new to Indianapolis. Jacob moved here recently from Ohio, and resides on the East Side of Indianapolis, which is a veritable hotbed for the "$15 and under" style blog we were doing. Adding him on was a no-brainer, and Devin and I both agreed...
Though Jacob's original intent was to bring together videos for the blog, I thought it might be better to see how he handles the writing side first, and then once he gets the hang of that, then move on to videos. I'll be honest, our first video will not be very good; but, we're excited to use it as a learning experience to make the blog more versatile and interesting for those out there who read it. I've been very pleased with what he's done so far, and am excited to see how he can bring together content for our vlog and blog in 2013.
This week's feature is over Jacob.

(Week 2) Spotlight-Jacob Trick
Where
would you like to see the blog go in 2013?
JT: Ever since all
three of us (Justin, James and I) have been consistently posting
weekly, we've seen a rapid growth of viewers. So honestly I’m wanting
to see what we are doing to stay consistent in 2013, because that only means it’s
going to grow into something more.
If
you died and came back to life as a food, what would you like to be?
JT: Oh boy. .
. That's kind of a big question, because I know in a week or so my
answer will change. But I’ll go with what I’m feeling right now, a big ol' hunk
of ham!
If
you had to eat 1 food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
JT: Who asked these
questions!? This is another big one…because if it’s gonna be for the rest of
your life, it at least needs to be healthy…umm…turkey meat I guess. Good for
you and full of that protein stuff.
What's
the one thing you'd never eat?
JT: I have no problem
trying anything. As I always say, “you can’t hate it unless you tried it.” But, I will say something about French toast…I
got deathly sick as a child eating some French toast for the first time. So,
now I refuse to ever have it again.
What's
the feature you'd most like to see added to Mealightenment?
JT: Actually something
that we are working on right now, a YouTube channel full of videos.
We're hoping on getting something up and running soon for your viewing
pleasure.
Do
you see anything like "Tastin' Tuesday" or another free sample day,
taking off for our blog?
JT: I hope to see that
taking off. I like seeing people’s reaction to the food that I cook; not only that,
it will help with that rapid growth of blog traffic. On top of it all, I just
see it as being a good time.
We
focus on Indianapolis Reviews, but what if we were based in another city?
What city would you hope for and why?
JT: New Orleans, hands
down. There is so much culture there that people don't see. Great food
all boils down to culture in a city.
You
were brought onto the blog for your talents. What strengths do you bring
to the table, and how do you plan to use them to make this blog better?
JT: I
love viewing things at a different angle and I've always been
interested in media arts (videography, photography, Etc.), so I want to get
started on recording and editing our videos on the great places we find to
eat in Indianapolis.
