I'll be honest...I didn't think I'd like quiche. I'd always been told growing up, "That's girly food." Well, color me girly then, because this recipe I've made up made me change my thoughts on it. If it doesn't put a little bit of hair on your chest (ladies, my apologies if it does), then you've done something terribly wrong.
Here is what you'll need to get started:
-3 Large Eggs
-1/2 Cup of Heavy Cream
-1 Pre-made Pie Crust (in the dairy section at most grocers)
- 1 Cup of Cheese (1/2 in mixture, other half after 15 minutes of baking
-Pinch of Kosher Salt, Pepper, and Cayenne Pepper (optional)
-Lastly, any meat and veggies that you might like. For this recipe, I used Sausage, Bacon, Diced Tomato, and a few JalapeƱo Peppers.
The first step, is to unroll your pie crust and put it into a pie pan. Set your stove to 375 to preheat. Secondly, cook up the meat and veggies you plan to include in your dish. For my dish, I cooked the bacon to a crisp and dried out to crumble into the mixture. Then in a separate pan, I cooked the sausage, tomato, and jalapeƱos until the sausage was done; at that point mix in 1/2 a cup of cheese (any type you like, I prefer sharp cheddar). Once mixed well, empty contents into pie pan.
In a separate bowl whisk the 3 large eggs, heavy cream, and spices for about a minute or so until thoroughly mixed. Empty mixture into the pie pan, and be sure that your mixture isn't overflowing.
Place your creation in the oven at 375 for about 15 minutes. At 15 minutes, spread the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese on the top of the mixture. Bake another 40-45 minutes, then allow the quiche to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
I know this dish is a hit (in fact, such a big hit, I made it twice in one week for my fiance and I), but please, any variations on this manly breakfast masterpiece, please let me know.
Enjoy your breakfast, and as always...
Eat On,
-JG
